Haha tbh I believe that ignoring and move on is a great way too! Yeees when I read this anon ask, I was wondering if they are living somewhere where pale person are oppressed and they are personally in this case and it affects them so badly that they have so much hate in them or they are just being hateful toward poc w/o any explication ? It was a bit uncomfortable And what is appealing with Genshin Impact (for me) is the fact that they use real culture to create their game ; even in the last survey, they ask if we like Natlan's authenticity (weird they only ask abt environment and music, i think they know they have issue with character design bahaha). I learn a lot about persian, algerian, but also chinese and even about french culture ! It is because people recognize themself that they start talking about it. I know there is a lot of controversial topic in Natlan, but because of this, I learn a lot on Hawai'i 's culture too. So yes, even if it is fiction, representation *is* important. And it is because they take inspiration of their culture that there is people who want a better representation, and in my opinion, this is something to not ignore !

If i can be honest tho, I didn't take it very well neither, or just I don't know how do I really felt at the moment I am an adult but I still hard time to distinguish what is morally okay or not, what is bad and good ? it was you and aventurine's date night.

the man was always occupied with his ipc business and work, but the moment aventurine surprised you with a date, you were enthusiastic! you quickly got ready, and you always donned upon a fancy dress or whatever you may preferred. you knew that aventurine always took you out to high-end, expensive places, so you always dressed for the occasion.

after several minutes of getting ready, aventurine decided to take you out to the casino located in penacony. the casino already had a built-in restaurant and some bars here and there, so you were ready for anything that your lover surprised you with.

the first part of the casino date was peaceful. he took you around and the both of you played a few games, won some credits here and there before he decided to take you to the finest restaurant inside of the casino.

you ordered an expensive plate of lobster after aventurine encouraged you to order something expensive. after all, the gambler had an unlimited amount of credits to spend on you. you were absolutely spoiled, and you always tried your best to order something expensive...but you were so used to purchasing and ordering something that was the least expensive.

the two of you sat together in harmony, eating, laughing together and sharing several glasses of wine...until a strange man in an expensive suit approached you both.

"you're aventurine?" the man spoke, and around his arms were interlocked by pleased women who laughed in unison. a rich man, possibly a gambler.

"the one and only, my friend," aventurine said, lifting his wine and giving the stranger a nod, "are you here to dine with us as well on this fine night?"

"oh, no, thank you. but i've heard rumors that you were unbeatable when it came to a game of chess, cards...or whatnot in this casino." he said, lifting his own sunglasses, "how about i challenge you to that?"

aventurine's already-apparent smile widens as he casts a glance to your direction before lowing his sunglasses a bit. "why, of course. how much credits are you willing to bet?"

"'bout five billion."

"deal."

you blinked.

five billion!? that was so much. did aventurine have that much? well, of course he did! he was one of the most wealthiest people out there. you blinked, before getting up from your seat before going towards your lover, "five billion?" you say with concern.

"awh," aventurine cooed, wrapping an arm around your waist as he continued to drink a glass of wine as he remained seated, "are you worried that i'll lose? i'm rather offended." he mused, chuckling.

"i mean... not really, but, that's so much!"

"ahaha," aventurine shook his head, "mere pocket change, really. let's hurry on and eat. i've a guest to attend to, my dear."

moments later, the two of you arrived at the designated location where the other gambler agreed to meet. the table was designed and made for poker games, with the casino affiliate in the middle. you had no idea how poker worked, or any of these gambling games worked, but all you knew was that you wanted aventurine to win.

as the two sat, you noticed that there was a crowd that emerged from the middle of nowhere. they began to mutter and murmur a few things about aventurine, and you remained close by his side.

"is that aventurine?"

"i hear he's undefeatable in the casinos..."

"do you think he'll lose?"

"is he single? who's that next to him?"

aventurine never wore off his smirk as he began to play the game of poker. the game was intense as the two were head-to-head. his competitor was smiling the entire time, but you can see that were was a drop of sweat traveling from his forehead and down to his cheek. the man was stressing, alright. and aventurine's frame remained relaxed as he kicked his legs up to the table.

"cash in." aventurine says, and the crowd behind him begins to murmur more. some cheered, some belittled him. but you didn't care- all what mattered was that aventurine won fair and squared.

both gamblers got up, shook each other's hands, and the other left, remaining you and aventurine (with the crowd of course).

"of course, i deserve my victory kiss," aventurine coos towards you. you blink in confusion, unable to respond quickly enough before the man quickly reels you in for a kiss. he lifts his fedora over to conceal the kiss, shutting down any rumors of him being single in front of everyone.

your face turns red as you reciprocate the kiss, feeling his arms wrap around your waist to pull you in. "you taste like fine wine," he murmurs with a chuckle as he pulls away a little bit, "delicious."

"n-not in front of everyone!" you stammered, covering your face a bit.

"oh, come on now, (y/n). this is a good opportunity to show the world that you're mine, you know."

your flush had only darkened as the man reeled you in for another kiss once more.

oh, you were going to kick his ass later (in bed).

Riddle's chapter is up next, so I've been studying every aspect of his overblot design to see what parts can be used in inspiration for his demon form. I noticed it in the official illustration for the novel, but he actually has sharper nails than his in-game sprites!!! :O a very delicious detail that won't be overlooked when I'm writing hehe!!

i CANNOT stop thinking about musical falls. GENUINELY. it rotted my brain. SO! i've spent a bit of time doodling and coming up with ideas for how BILL would be presented on stage.

firstly, we have 2-D Bill/Pre-Weirdmageddon Bill. the idea i had for this form is that we'd use a spotlight tinted with a yellow gel and on top of that there'd be a gobo (stencil) of Bill's triangular form.

(examples of how that'd look onstage)

pros- spotlights can effortlessly move around stage without physically interfering with actors, also it mirrors how in the show, he's limited to the mindscape and how he doesn't have a physical form yadda yadda yadda (you get my idea)

cons- not much movement/expression. also kind of a disembodied voice? Bill is very expressive so it'd be hard to showcase something like that on a cut out stencil of him.

ANOTHER IDEA (i just had now as i'm writing this): Bill projection !!

so, it'd be a projected image of Bill which would be able to be animated so THAT solves the issue of the previous idea. plus i'm sure there'd be a way to move the projection around the stage if needed.

uhhh anyways !! back to my original ideas !!!!

obviously everything i've just mentioned is for 2-D Bill, but HERE is where it gets exciting. when Bill gains his physical form during Weirdmageddon.

so, when Bill gains a physical form, i had 3 ideas:

IDEA 1- Lin Manuel Miranda as Bill.

now, in my previous post about musical falls, i was kind of /j ing the idea, but i think it'd be genuinely hilarious. imagine this, duing the whole musical, bill is this 2-dimensional projection, kinda eerie. makes you think "how is he gonna look once he gains a physical body?" then BOOM its Lin Manuel Miranda. obviously his costume would be a waistcoat and jacket combo (something similar to how i drew him in my past post) but yeah. that's really the only reason. it'd be funny. idk.

IDEA 2- Puppet Bill.

this Bill would be more canon-accurate, still in his triangle form, except he'd be puppeted by someone. now, this comes with the same problem as gobo-bill. LACK OF EXPRESSION. he's stuck to one emotion/"facial" expression. (also i have no idea how puppets work. if anyone with more knowledge than me wants to add on/constructively criticise, you're welcome to!) i didn't really expand/think too much about this idea either soooo.....

IDEA 3 (my favourite)-

drag. bill.

i really like this idea. now, i'm no costume designer, nor do i do drag (so apologies if i've gotten anything wrong) but i think this would be something really cool to see on stage. the shape language of the costume, alongside a gorgeous makeup look, AS WELL as it being a real person acting, really feels like a good direction to go in, as it would allow full movement, gestures, and expressions !! (hooray!!) also i really need to see an awesome Bill-inspired drag look onstage. it'd be awesome.

this is all for fun as i KNOW this won't ever become an IRL stage production (probably) but a guy can dream. i just had so much fun coming up with ideas for the heck of it sooo !!!

I really love personal expression and see it as another art form, and the idea that people can really shine through even with simple outfits and colors!

Hello hello! I come to introduce you to my oc, his name is Greg, he has certainly been created for years (approximately 9 years old, he is already turning 10-)

I won't tell much about his story, that will be with time, but I will tell you that it is based on his appearance and because some aspects are similar in Greg and RGB 🫂

and if you ask...yes, it is based on RGB from The property of hate, let me tell you a brief summary HAHAHAHA-

well basically I was browsing Tumblr looking for ideas to redesign Greg and I came across a fanart of this same character, RGB, I honestly liked the character design at first glance, so I used it without knowing at first where it came from... .well I ended up finding out a few months later that that same character was coming out of a webcomic, I wanted to give him a chance...now here they see me as a big fan HAHAHAHA

There are certainly several things that I liked about this same character, at first I wanted to copy the character as he is, but obviously over time I gave him his own things, his own personality, history, etc.

Of course some aspects of this character are similar to RGB, I don't deny that, there are things about this character that I loved and wanted to add, but he has his own things too!

(but as I said, it will be seen over time that drawings of this same one will be published along with its history, etc.)

bueno básicamente estaba navegando por Tumblr buscando ideas para rediseñar a Greg y me encontré con un fanart de este mismo personaje, RGB, sinceramente me gustó el diseño del personaje a primera vista, así que lo usé sin saber al principio de dónde venía... .bueno me terminé enterando a los pocos meses que ese mismo personaje salía de un webcomic, quería darle una oportunidad...ahora aquí me ven como un gran fan JAJAJAJA

Ciertamente hay varias cosas que me gustaron de este mismo personaje, al principio quise copiar al personaje tal cual es, pero obviamente con el tiempo le fui dando cosas propias, su propia personalidad, historia, etc.

Por supuesto que algunos aspectos de este personaje son similares al RGB, no lo niego, hay cosas de este personaje que me encantaron y quería agregar, ¡pero él también tiene sus propias cosas!

Jeff the killer x nymph!reader

Wowza with your beauty, grace and downright ethereal energy, it's no suprise Jeff fell for you!

Your flowy long hair and beautiful dresses hypnotize him

Depending on what kind of nymph you are, that effects what you two spend your time together doing

If you are any sort of water nymph, you will spend most of your time swimming!

You will occasionally flick or splash each other with water, spook each other by dragging each other down underwater, etc

If you are any sort of plant nymph, there will be a wider array of options

You will lay in fields of flowers together (at least, you will. Jeff hates pollen), you will have picnics on grassy hillsides, you will take walks in the forest, etc

If you are any sort of landscape nymph (such as mountains, hills, etc) you will mostly just ramble about your favorite landscapes while jeff listens lovingly

He loves to watch you dance

He knows that dancing is a sacred thing to most nymphs, so that makes the experience even better for him

The fact that you trust him enough to preform such a sacred activity in front of him makes his heart flutter

He looooves to play in your hair

You will both be sitting outside, your eyes closed and the sun shining on your (pink, blue, green, white or brown) skin while jeff brushes your hair with the utmost care

Once he is satisfied with brushing it, he will begin to twirl it between his fingers and burry his face in it from time to time

Then, he will add flowers to your hair, commenting on how pretty you are the whole time

When hes done, he kisses your pointy ears, then moves to lay in your lap, allowing you to now play with his hair

Most of your time together is spent outdoors since the very culmination of your being is linked to the outdoors

Its not like you cant be inside, you just get really ansty and anxious

So slender had a special sleeping quarters made just for you

A moderately sized building tucked away in a private area of the manor's ginormous back yard (back yard doesnt do its size justice)

The building is built using ancient greek architecture designs, and is overgrown with vines and flowers

Inside, there is your bed, a small clothing rack, and a kitchen area and a room with a toilet and sink

And of course, whatever other decorations you add

You shower is around the back of the house, and allows you to shower outside with the butterflies

There is a curtain installed for privacy, but if you desire you can just leave it open

Showering with the flowers and butterflies truly is a magical experience

So yeah, Jeff and you hang out most of the time in your mini house

You'll have to stop him from swatting at your insect friends

And scaring your animal companions

And angering the forest spirits

Other than that, he's chill

6. cmonn... its kirby. kirby from kirby. he's such a wonderful fellow and so awe inspiring and cute and manifestation of love and friendship. he's a bonus but how could you not love him.

5. pitch!!!!! i love him i love him i love him. og birb with g r e e n colors and squeaky little design. plus he's super fun to use in DL3 :] to me he is a 7 year old kid who wants to be included with the big kids, and tries to act all cool and tough to impress them (but he really just loves his mama). i like drawing him with giant ahoges/head feathers, as well as giving him that long side-beak that i'm pretty sure i got from pato from pocoyo??

4. susie is amazing and wonderful and has a beautifully complex character that more people need to recognize!!! she's a capitalist and constantly has a condescending sales representative demeanor, but at heart she's just a playful girl who loves pink and ice cream and her dad that never got to have a full childhood to experience them. ALSO cyborg susie! i like to think her father let her choose one body modification each year on her birthday, but after the portal incident, she's been giving herself so many alterations that she's barely organic anymore (her voice is very AI sounding to me). uhh i like drawing her with little stars on her cuffs, and as of late i've been making her hair very fluffy (it has the same texture of a barbie doll)

3. RIBBON AAAA!!!!!!!!! i'll admit as a kid i did not like her but god she is a joy. that is a little girl! look at her! i love the idea of her being just a weird little chihuahua girl who performs seances regularly and knows the entire history of weaponry. also her being the crystal knight/guardian of ripple star headcanon!!! 🗣️🗣️ she is 100% the queen's adopted sister prove me wrong. lastly, i try to draw her as heart-shaped as possible— wings, head, hair, bow, eye highlights all vaguely resemble a heart and that is my biggest rule when i draw her. her little coat thing is inspired by @//somethinginworl 's design <33

2. bandana dee is my heart and soul and we tolerate ZERO disrespect for him here. even in canon, he's got one of the most well-defined personalities and backstories for a non-villain character! (in my heart he is the waddle dee from 64 and you can pry this from me with my cold dead hands) he's grown sososo much and i love how hal recognizes his development :]]] he may never amount to the same power as kirby, but goddammit if he doesn't have a heart and will of a true warrior 💜 i don't have a lot of idiosyncratic design choices since he's such a simple character, but his bandana ears must always be HUGE you hear me.

1. um. if you can't tell. i am very normal about adeleine. her moves in SA are super fun to use (and challenging), and oh my goshhhh the angst potential here. i am begging hal to bring her back in future games, especially with the more ancients-focused lore being incorporated recently. at heart though, i just really adore seeing her draw and paint amidst all these magical creatures in her life <3 she's slightly shy but super passionate, and is definitely kirby's big sister with her advice (especially in the storybooks!) and nicknames for him (kir-kun/kirbs in the manga). i caved long ago and gave her curtain bangs, and i really like dressing her up and experimenting with different outfits! *breathes heavily* the happy little artist kid makes me a very happy little artist kid 🫶

I did go in depth in a previous ask, where I also linked back to yet ANOTHER ask, lol. I definitely encourage you to give them a read if you'd like! :)

But of course I can definitely add some more tidbits!

Besides playing around with clip studio's built in features (tone curve, approximate color, gradient map, etc.) Taking inspiration from real life is one of my favorite things to do. ^^

In fact it's possibly one of the best places you can get color reference from, because how you interpret it is entirely up to you!

For example with the celestial crystalfly piece, I saw these flowers near a supermarket, and a really lovely color scheme near the end of a sunset. (Besides the fact that I was daydreaming about painting Lumine if she collected all of the elements FHAHDGSHA) I didn't actually color drop for this piece, because I wanted to treat it like a study, and I was painting the flowers from memory because I didn't have a picture of it them the time.  I stylized it in the end but was very pleased w the result. ^^

And with this character design, I got color inspiration from a butterfly in a photography book that was on sale in Indigo.

So generally my colors don't always come from nowhere!

Besides that for all pieces, I personally also like to plan colors during the sketch phase!

If you're like me and you used to follow the traditional sketch > lineart > color workflow, but once you got to the coloring part you'd get stuck, try it! Once you have a pose and character in mind, add some lighter base colors. As you work on rendering the piece, build up your base colors with darker colors (or lighter colors for things like accents and highlights)

It's probably more suited to painterly styles, but I think you could definitely find a way to make it work if you prefer clean lineart. 

I hope this helps give you some jumping off points to think about!

Color is a bit of a hard area to give concrete guidance on because it almost goes hand in hand with style. You get more comfortable with it and find what works the more you practice.

And that's coming from someone who used to color/draw like this 8 years ago,,,,,

GGGOD I WISH I WASN’T OUT OF THE HOUSE RIGHT NOW. but i’ve been thinking about colors literally all day so you all get to be subject to my madness! sorry this is long and rambly wauaua. nightmarishly long post under the cut.

okay. first things first, a few basics. color theory and color psychology tend to get confused a lot in discussions, but they usually refer to different things. color theory is more about we physically perceive colors (color wheels and color schemes the like), while color psychology focuses on our emotional response to colors. if you’re familiar with the children’s hospital color theory post, that poster wasn’t actually talking about color theory, but color psychology (and also it’s incredibly surface level and heavily misunderstands the subject because in what fucking universe does the quantity of positive associations with a color matter more than the context it’s used in and sorry i have personal beef with this tumblr post).

color theory is also a special interest of mine but i’m not gonna touch on it too much here because it’s not entirely important. mmmaybe another time…

essentially, certain colors (and color combinations) have associations in our brains and that affect our behavior and emotions. these associations are also very much affected by the context a color is used in. colors don’t exist in a vacuum! so while red can symbolize passion and love when used in something like a dress or a bouquet of flowers, it has a very different connotation when it’s, say, splattered on the walls or smeared on the ground in a snail trail.

(of course the saturation and brightness of these blues play a massive part in how they’re perceived but this is not a post about color theory this is n)

and, of course, combining colors in a piece can also change their meanings!! i’m about to get real fucking normal.

i’m gonna be focusing on the color combo of red and yellow here because it’s the one that’s most relevant to my art (and also it’s really interesting.) basically, seeing these two colors together activates the part of our brain that controls our appetite, making us actually feel hungry. this is why so many food companies use red and yellow in their branding! it’s neat stuff!!

also, if you’re familiar with it, this is why the mv for butcher vanity uses this color palette!! along with red’s general associations with danger and blood, the color combo also physically induces hunger. pretty fitting for a song about cannibalism!

(there is also red’s association with lust and passion and how that intersects with the double meaning in the lyrics but i cannot derail this post into being an analysis of butcher vanity i’m sorry. we’d be here all week. maybe another day... wipes a tear from my eye)

and i think this might be the reason why some people feel hungry when they see my art, even when i’m not drawing food. while i don’t tend to use red outright, most of my art has very warm undertones (red-oranges and yellows especially), which could be activating that hunger response??

(ah fuck color theory managed to weasel its way into this post again)

admittedly this part is just speculation on my end. i think my rendering style and Shapes also play a role in it, but it’s interesting for me to think about!!

this is only scratching the surface of how complicated colors can get. i was going to go on an entire tangent about color grading and how green lighting can make a scene feel unnerving but this post is already Too Fucking Long. aaaa super sorry if this is Rambly or hard to understand!! i’m not Entirely sure how much the average person knows about color theory and psychology so if there’s any confusing terms here i’m fine with adding stuff for clarity!

tl;dr colors have a bunch of different emotions and meanings tied to them, but you’ve gotta pay attention to the context in which it’s being used. so maybe take a step back before you put that thick red trail on the floor of your children’s hospital.

Hands on a canvas

Being an artist in Twisted Wonderland was probably the best thing that could ever happen in your life. Since you have been transported to the new world you have never lacked the desire to portray everything of this world that always fascinates you.

Your artistic skills have also been a big help for other people like Azul and the Leech twins, who asked for your thoughts and opinions about their menu's design, and to the students who are in charge of the costumes and backstage work in the film research club.

You're laying on the bed of your room in ramshackle, thinking about the amount of time you spent in twisted wonderland, its people. Your mind then immediately wanders to your home, your world.

When will you be able to return to the place you really belong to?

You immediately cast these thoughts out of your mind.

Being depressed won't change the situation you're in.

To distract yourself, you decide to focus on what you love doing: drawing.

You open the bedside drawer next to you and take a sketchbook and a pencil to get started, you then grab your phone and make your way towards a desk near the window of the room where you usually spend your time drawing or doing your homework.

You look out of your window to find new things to draw but there aren't any, just the same trees and flowers...sure, at first it was nice drawing them but after a while anyone would get tired of portraying the same scenery. You sigh and grab your things, ready to go out and find something or someone to sketch.

You start walking around the school to find inspiration and you finally find it when you come across the track and field club or rather a member of it: Jack.

You watch as he plays on the field of the track club and you can't seem to pull your eyes away from him, almost mesmerized by his energy. You slowly start to sit down on the ground and open your notebook, your gaze never leaving Jack's figure.

Your attention shifts on his hands, you always liked his hands and thought they are very expressive and without thinking about it you start to sketch them in different ways. When you tear you eyes away from your drawings and look towards the field once again, you find jack staring at you.

For a moment you don't know what to do, but then he waves at you with an almost unnoticable smile on his lips.

Your heart skipping a beat and you swear that blood rushed to your face, making it hot and red. After a few seconds of you trying to recover from the shock, you smile back at him, returning the greeting and Jack goes back to the other members of the club to continue his game.

You follow with your gaze the figure of the boy who hoes back to his club activities amd you can't help but think of his delicate smile that he showed you earlier. Your heart skips a beat again and you start drawing his face on the white paper, with the intention of portraying not only Jack, but also the deep feelings you have for him.

"Is there something wrong with my hands?" Deuce asks in the cafeteria while you, him, Ace and Grim were sitting together, eating your lunch.

You've been staring at his hands since the moment you sat down across from him with a noticeable interest and a bit of intensity, but you can't help it! The reason is that you have been practicing drawing hands for a long time, but recently the practice is not going well and the results are not what you quite expected and the pile of tattered and rolled up drawing paper in the trash can of your dorm can testify your failed experiments of drawing human anatomy. So you've been thinking about using someone's hands as a refernce.

You've always liked Deuce's hands and you tought they would be the perfect reference for your drawings. You just had to find a good way to ask him if you could his hands as a model.

"It's just that recently I've been trying to practice my drawing skills, to be more specific, I'm practicing drawing hands but I'm...uh...quite failing at it ahah" akward ass laugh.

Deuce looks at you for a few seconds and his gaze moves to his hands and then to you again, this continues for a few seconds before he asks in an almost embarassed way:

"Would you..like to use my hands as a reference then?"

Hard to believe, but Deuce understood your intentions.

At this point we might as well believe that the end of the world is coming

You immediately accept his help with a big grin on your face and literally DRAG HIM out of the cafeteria when you finish eating, not even caring about ace who was still sitting at the table drowning in his food.

After successfully finding a bench to sit on, you open your notebook and grab your pencil (two items you won't leave your house without) and start sketching using deuce's hands as a reference.

While drawing you explain to Deuce all your drawing techniques and show many of your sketches in the album, which receive many compliments and positive comments from the blue-haired boy. You also explain to him that you were hoping he would offer you help in your attempts of drawing hands, as you particularly appreciate the expressiveness that his hands have, and you swear that you've seen the tip of his ears turn a bit red.

You didn't mind it and kept drawing until you both had to back to class, promising to each other that you would spend more time together to practice.

Before parting ways you gave him one of the drawings you did of his hands, something he would cherish forever.

Art Summary 2023 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Last new years i got really down because every artist I knew was doing year recaps. I decided to avoid that this year, I was gonna try to draw at least one thing every month. I was able to do it thank gosh gdkjfnghjf.

I wasn't able to do an excellent piece every month- sometimes just a sketch. Maybe that should be goal 2024? I'll try to make a really good piece every month.

January

Didn't start off strong really. Best thing I did this month was a sketchpage of Q. The campaign she's in started in January and has been going strong since =w=

February

I couldn't design between the two aack. The first was a lil sketch I did when I first started dating Cam. She said she wanted to watch me draw and I couldn't think of anything, so I just started putting together something mechanical aack. You can tell I kinda got tired after just drawing the head .-.

Second was when I was still super into Bocchi. Still am, just haven't drawn any fanart in a while gkfdjhnjgff.

"Recipes for Strawberry Jam" was my absolute favorite thing to work on all year I think. This specific page took so long but it all worth it. It was my first serious foray into making a comic, using color, and trying out weird perspectives and I think it worked out so well. I'm really hoping to do more soon =w=

This is around the time I switched my sketch paper to a more grey-color rather than a yellow-ish tone aack. I later switch it again to stark white. Road Queen~

I drew one (1) thing in May. May is always the worst part of the year aaaa. It starts to get hot again and because I live in the desert that means that life is suddenly unbearable and I have to Deal with all of that.

I was really happy to be able to make a necromancer for the Archivists homebrew house aack. I honestly didn't draw much in Decemeber except for. A lot of vent art I'd rather not share and nsfw art I don't wanna share aack. Almost fumbled it all at the end aaa

This was the first year I made like, any significant living off of commissions. I hope to continue growing next year. Thank you sincerely for following me. It's a little... nerve wracking, but I'm glad to have people aack. I'd like to keep working like this- making art on commissions and ko-fi supporters, and everything helps. actually, bending as a dino was one of my first thought experiments, came way before anyone had any dino designs! ive always wanted to make sure to preserve the whole magic martial arts vibe of atla, even in dino form. and combat is such a big thing in atla that im constantly shifting things around in my head to try and make sure that everything feels balanced. i don't want dino bending to be the definitive replacement for human bending, yknow?

im gonna plop the rest of my response under read more cuz it got pretty long. here we go!

as for how bending actually looks, my thought was that dinos primarily use their head and tails for major bending motions, as most dinos dont have long or flexible limbs that would do much good, at least compared to human limbs. each bending looks slightly different, as with their human forms.

earthbenders are the easiest to visualize to me, as mostly they just do a lot of stomping and head throwing. foot goes down, rock goes up.

airbenders mostly rely on appendages that are feathered, so flapping wings or slamming down a very feathered tail like a fan. i have no idea what a non-winged airbender would do. probably not be very good at airbending.

waterbending is kinda muddy honestly, in my head they're mostly ground based tail and head swingers. less flipping than an airbender, but more mobile than an earthbender. i feel like sokka would use his head a lot though. he's not a bender, so if he wants to get a concussion blugeoning a parasaurolophus, go ahead man.

also also, airbenders and waterbenders can absolutely propell themselves with bending. i mean i guess all of them could if you want, but it's super common in air and water. air dinos flying in dino forms that aren't *quite* built for sustained flight (aang is a microraptor, which is a gliding dino, and not actually able to fly, but with airbending, that doesnt matter!) and water dinos bending while swimming in order to torpedo themselves through the water.

and then firebending is mostly reliant on the tail and legs if possible, basically use the tail as a replacemnt for legs in human form. loooots of roundhouse kick stuff. with a tail. also i was thinking that maybe it's normal to be able to spit fireballs like a dragon? but it's still kinda hard, and something most people can only do in dino form. idk about that one, i just like the idea.

i drew a bit of concept art for this waaay back, but honestly im not all that well versed in how to draw movement, so i feel like the firebender there is the only really clear representation of my thoughts. here's that pic, and a link to the post.

in terms of visualizing the movement, there's this one video game project though called dinoSword by Jean Nguyen that actually really represents what im thinking, even if it's a bit flashy and fast for what i mean. either way, it's badass and might give a good point of reference. absolutely check out their work, here's a compilation of some of their animations

so yeah, all in all super badass! definitely faster and more deadly than what i have in mind, but the general idea about the potential movements and range of motion for these dinos is there

(also a side note, in terms of species for dino forms, my half baked idea is that it isn't really based on nation or bending style as it is geographical location. like, those are obviously linked, but the cause is the physical location. so you can find spinosaurus anywhere you find water, even though it is commonly believed to be a water tribe dino. there are swamp spinos, earth spinos, and yeah, even fire spinos. yes, there are conotations and societal consequences to a fire spino, regardless of how accurate those assumptions are. it got worse with the war

the msot common species for each nation are: mid to large raptors for the fire nation, spinos abd cold weather dinos for water tribes, large herbivores for the earth kingdom, and tiny tiny raptors or flight adjacent dinos for the air nomads. maybe also some lil herbivores, and they just dont get to fly in dino form.)

in terms of what the actual element looks like while moving, i imagine that dinos would have a rougher time with anything that has a huge amount of finesse to it. delicate movements or anything super precise might not be worth it to do in dino form, and most attacks would be more explosive than their human alternative. that whole thing katara did where she incased zuko in a ball of ice in the s1 finale? not happening as a spinosaurus. so while a dino form might give a boost in power, it isn't always practical at the time. not to mention it takes energy to transform, and sometimes it's best to save that for the fight itself.

the general feel of the movements is much more flexible and weirdly athletic than any actual dinosaur would ever be. but at the same time, i want to impose this idea that dino bending, while powerful, can be pretty clumsy, and each dino brings it own limitations. large dinos like sokka and katara are automatically slower, and in fights like the ones we see in atla, that really matters. small dinos like aang and toph also have to deal with how lightweight they are. their natural defenses are to run and hide, so they dont get much in terms of physical equipment the way a large carnivore or herbivore would. they're much more reliant on their bending to stay safe than say a big ol ankylosaurus, who's built like a tank.

Azul, Riddle, Idia probably write some really cute love letters they will never send, and literally any other dorm leader probably has a journal on how beautiful you looked today, what you ate, what you wore, just squealing and thrashing their legs about as they wrote their daily log.

Now imagine a girls boys sleepover with all of them together just fangirling, meanwhile in ramshakle a seperate sleepover is held with Floyd, Ace, Deuce, Jack, Epel, Sebek, maybe Ortho and Rook.

They just complain about their housewardens, how annoying they are and such (except Sebek 💀) and doing sleepover things.

Epel just going feral over snacks, eating so many marshmallows, fries from mostro lounge leftovers, cream filled pastries from Trey, and sandwiches you made, Vil would never let him eat any at all, he monched on those treats like a starved man.

"Woah easy there little guy." Ace said concerned.

"SHUT YER MOUTH I AIN'T LIL!!" Epel yelled with his mouth full.

"ACE YOU THINK YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH EATING MY EGG SANDWICH THAT PREFECT MADE FOR ME?" Deuce who just realized Ace was eating his sandwich.

"Relax Deuce I can make some more... Ace apologize to Deuce." Prefect said to stop the argument.

"It's not my fault loosey Deucy is so timid!" Ace snorted.

"YOU ASKIN' FOR A FIGHT?" Deuce's delinquent persona comes back.

"That much is to be expected from lowly humans. Us fae are the superior specie. Bla bla bla...." Sebek huffs.

"Eeeeeeh Croccy, surely you didn't forget about me, I am far diffy from humans y'know." Floyd questions.

"Guys that's enough." Jack sighs.

"Thank you Jack." Prefect finally being able to rest.

The real chaos starts after 8pm when Jack falls asleep...

Idia watching from his monitor just sighs as he looks behind him seeing those housewardens mutually fangirling, until a certain fae decided to remark about how prefect fancies him best, another wave of chaos begins.... Tonight is gonna be a long night....

Aaaa yes!! Azul's love letters are always written in standard letter format, complete with his swirling penmanship and closed with a pretty wax seal of Octavinelle's crest. He even sprays some of his cologne on the envelope or letter so that you'll be reminded of him even more when you open the letter. Now if only he could actually send these letters...

Riddle is so confident in his lexicon, yet he struggles to coherently piece together everything he wants to say, which means he's had to restart a dozen letters until he perfects the one he wants to send (which never gets sent). He's designed a few love letters that are actually crossword puzzles, though he's not sure if you'd enjoy solving them like he does and so he never sends those either.

Idia tries to write a love letter without any gamer lingo or internet slang and fails horribly, so he just resolves to write a love letter in binary because it feels cooler than normie love letters. He doesn't have the courage to send it to you, but there was one time Ortho took notice of this and forwarded it to you and Idia wanted to shrivel and die. Luckily, you didn't understand the message; you even came to him asking for a translation. He tells you it's just a bunch of nonsense; a binary keyboard smash, if you will.

The idea of the Housewardens having a sleepover, but all they gossip about you is so fun to think about. I guarantee they’re all ready to fight each other because some are bragging and boasting about how close they are with you while others are going on about how they know you best. They act like obsessed fans when they discuss how cute you were that one time you fell asleep in class or how you’re simply so sweet when you greet them in the halls.

And a sleepover with the first years and Floyd… so chaotic omg. A recipe for silliness. I can imagine Ortho just innocently confesses how much Idia likes you while the others are all like, “Oh, is that so? :) tell us more.” Poor Idia… Ortho’s exposing Idia’s love for you. Omg and Rook being there. He probably shows everyone all of the candid photos he’s taken of you on his phone and they’re all salivating over them like they’re the only meals in the world.
